                 How We Started...
Paul and Donna Bates
Body Shop (Braggs Corner Rd.)
Paint Dept. (Braggs Corner Rd.)
Bates’ Body and Repair  Inc. was established in 1988 by Paul W. Bates. Paul, who grew up helping in his fathers body shop, started his own bussiness in small garage in Brandy Station, Va.  After several years, Paul purchased the previous location on Braggs Corner Road and moved the business.  The move to Braggs Corner Road took place in 1990.  The property has been embellished with many additions but the foundation of our business has remained the same.

We are a family owned and operated collision facility with the utmost respect for our customers.
Bates Body and Repair, Inc is very grateful to the community for the support and confidence it has placed in our business for over 20 years.

January 2009, we embarked on a new journey.  If you have been a resident of Culpeper for many years, you will remember the “Drive In Movie” property.  Paul and Donna purchased this property in 2004 and started constructing the new home for Bates’ Body and Repair, Inc. in 2008.  On January 19th, 2009, we opened the new facility.

                   What We Offer...

All of our technicians are I-Car and / or ASE certified. We utilize the latest in technology, from our equipment to repair methods, which means, you can be assured that your vehicle will be repaired in accordance with the manufacturers recommended procedures.

Frame and unibody alignment is accomplished using either our Chief E-Z liner 21’ frame machine or our 18’ Chisum frame machine. All frame and unibody measuring is done by means of a computerized G-Tronix laser measuring system, which will provide and record the dimensions before and after the repairs. This eliminates any doubt on whether your frame or unibody are back to within manufacturer’s specifications.

We use Miller welding equipment on all mild steel repairs and are proud to announce that we now have the new Prospot I-4 pressure resistance spot welder. This welder, which has received certification by Mercedes, GM, and Ford, is a necessity in order to correctly repair or replace the advanced high strength steels used in today’s vehicles.

Our paint department is equipped with four Garmat downdraft paint booths, a PPG computerized paint mixing system, and fully accredited painters who offer over 30 years of combined experience. Using the latest in spraying techniques and equipment we can reproduce a factory finish on your vehicle.
